ProBox Results – Baraou, Lopez, Valle score wins in California
OCEANSIDE – Former world champion Abass Baraou defeated Giovanni Santillan by majority decision in the main event of the ProBox card in Oceanside, California to capture the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title in the super welterweight division. The scores were 97-93, 96-94, and 95-95. Baraou (18-2, 9 KOs) outpointed Santillan (35-2, 18 KO) for the victory, landing 148 of 541 punches thrown according to CompuBox in comparison to Santillan landing 92 of 381 punches. The movement of Baraou was the main weapon for him as Santillan could not get set for his offense for most of the fight.
“I’m confident that I can win everywhere I go,” said Baraou after getting the decision. “My mission is to always get the win.”

Baraou bounced back from his split decision loss to Xander Zayas on January 31st, losing the WBA title in the process. Now with this win he gets back in contention to become a world champion at super welterweight.
“This is my road back to becoming world champion again. I want to fight all the world champions. I’m aiming to be a multi-time world champion.”
In the co-feature bout, former IBF featherweight champion Luis Alberto Lopez knocked out Daniel Lugo in the third round to improve his record to 33-3 with 20 knockouts. It was his third consecutive win since losing that title to Angelo Leo in 2024. Currently Lopez competes in the super featherweight division and in the bout against Lugo he landed big shots to the body to score a knockdown in the second round, then carried that momentum to the following round where he landed a series of uppercuts and hooks to force the referee to stop the bout.
“I was very anxious to return to the ring but I’m happy that I performed the way I did tonight,” Lopez said. “I thank everyone who supported me here in California
Lopez dominated the bout from the opening bell, as he landed 79 total punches to Lugo’s 25. With this impressive performance, Lopez entered his name as a contender in the super featherweight division. He is ranked at 11 in the IBF rankings, and he made it clear that he wants an opportunity against a world champion real soon.
“I want to face the world champions. I’ve never had an easy fight. I’ve gone all over the world to face the best. Foster, Navarrete, I’m ready for any of them.”

In a battle between two unbeaten fighters in the super featherweight division, Dominic Valle won by unanimous decision over Francois Scarboro Jr. with scores of 96-94, 98-92, and 98-92. The jab was the key weapon for Valle as he landed 93 jabs over the course of ten rounds. Scarboro relied on power punching and going to the body of Valle for most of the fight, landing 57 punches to the body and 125 power punches overall. It was a close fight as both Valle and Scarboro had their moments, but it was Valle’s work in the last couple of rounds that proved to be the difference in the fight.
The opening bout of the ProBox Championship Series was won by Herbert Conceicao as he knocked out Jose Adame in the eighth round to stay unbeaten in the middleweight division. Conceicao (12-0, 6 KOs) had a rough start against the Mexican, as the first four rounds were close. The fight changed in the fifth round when Conceicao scored two knockdowns which were set up by body shots. After the fifth round Conceicao focused on landing right uppercuts and then connected with a left hook to the body of Adame to put him down in the eighth round. Adame beat the ten count but then took another body shot forcing the referee to stop the bout.
Other results from the card in Oceanside include Julian Montalvo getting a fifth round TKO victory over Anthony Cruz to improve his record to 8-0 with 6 knockouts, and Daniel Morales defeating Lorenzo Vazquez by second round knockout to become 10-0 with 6 of his wins by way of knockout.
