Agreement reached for Stevenson-Martin fight
The two parties for Shakur Stevenson and Frank Martin reached a deal today for a fight to take place in the fall of this year, according to Keith Idec of Boxing Scene. Top Rank and TGB Promotions made an agreement before the deadline that was ordered by the WBC before a purse bid was to be scheduled.
The exact date and location of the bout has not been confirmed, but reports state that it could take place in November in Las Vegas.
Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) had a win over Shuichiro Yoshino in Newark in April, while Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) defeated Artem Harutyunyan by unanimous decision in Las Vegas in July. Both fighters are highly ranked in the lightweight division and are currently rated #2 and #4 in the WBC rankings respectively. They will fight for the vacant WBC lightweight title, which was held by Devin Haney who will move up to super lightweight.
