Resendiz wants to “make a statement” against Plant on May 31st
The biggest fight of Armando Resendiz’s career takes place at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas on May 31st as he takes on Interim WBA Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant in the main event of a TGB Promotions fight card, which will be shown live on Amazon Prime. Resendiz (15-2, 11 KOs) has trained in Southern California with renowned coach Manny Robles over the past couple months to get prepared for battle against one of the top fighters in the division in Plant.
“Working with Manny Robles out here in Southern California has really taken me to another level,” said Reséndiz. “Every day, we’re motivated — not just on getting in shape, but on improving every part of my game.”
The 26 year old fighter from Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico has been known for stopping a majority of his opponents, including former unified champion Jarrett Hurd in 2023. However, he knows that Plant is a great boxer and can utilize ring generalship to his advantage.
“I know Caleb Plant is a top-level fighter,” said Reséndiz. “He’s a former world champion for a reason — he’s fast, technical, and he’s been in there with the best. I respect everything he’s accomplished. But I didn’t take this fight to just be another name on his resume.”
“I’ve been fine-tuning my footwork, tightening up my defense, sharpening my punches, and building smart strategies for fight night. I’ve been learning so much throughout this camp. Honestly, I feel more confident, more focused, and more ready than I ever have been before.”
Resendiz feels that the work that he has done in camp will pay off May 31st because he knows that a win would catapult him near the top of the super middleweight division.
“It’s not just another fight — it’s the opportunity I’ve been chasing since I first laced up the gloves. If I beat Caleb Plant, people will have to take notice. A win puts me in position to fight for a world title. I’ve worked too hard and come too far to let this moment slip away. I’m treating it like everything is on the line — because for me, it is.”
