Errol Spence Jr. lands in Australia ahead of July 25th bout against Tim Tszyu
Former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. has landed in Australia more than a week away from his bout against Tim Tszyu which takes place at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney. It is the main event of a PBC Pay-Per-View event available live on Prime Video and DAZN.
Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) was with legendary trainer Ronnie Shields at the Sydney Airport when they were greeted by the Rose brothers of No Limit Boxing. A ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony was performed on their arrival.
“It was dope, man — getting welcomed by the Aborigines as soon as I came out after a long flight,” said Spence after flying in from Los Angeles. “I’m happy about it. It woke me up a little bit.”
It will mark three years since Spence was in the boxing ring when he fights Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) in Australia. While Spence looks to shake off some ring rust, Tszyu will be fighting three months after his last bout which was against Denis Nurja. Tsyzu won that bout by unanimous decision and looks to derail the plans of Spence on July 25th.
“I’m going to enjoy it a lot down here. It’ll be a dope event. Hopefully when I come out, not everyone will boo me and I’ll put on a great show…I’m the big fish. I’m going to take over his backyard.”
The Spence-Tszyu event will have three more fights on pay per view, including Jermall Charlo versus Koen Mazoudier, Stephen Fulton against Liam Wilson, and Callum Peters versus Ivan Ricardo Actis. It is promoted by No Limit Boxing and The Rose Brothers, Man Down Promotions and TGB Promotions.
