PBC announce planned fights on DAZN – Fundora, Figueroa, Ramos defending titles
Premier Boxing Champions held a press conference after their announcement of a landmark deal with DAZN which will have fight cards be televised on the world’s leading sports entertainment platform. In the presser it was revealed that multiple fighters would be featured in the cards plus upcoming events that will be on the schedule.
To open the PBC fight schedule, DAZN will show the card in Australia July 26th with Errol Spence Jr. taking on Tim Tszyu, Jermall Charlo facing Koen Mazoudier, and Stephen Fulton fighting Liam Wilson. This will be live on DAZN Pay Per View. The next event will be August 22nd as Rolando “Rolly” Romero defends the WBA welterweight title against Teofimo Lopez. PBC also plans to have events on September 19th and October 17th that will be shown live on DAZN. More fighters from PBC such as Erislandy Lara, Mario Barrios, Gary Antuanne Russell, Jaime Munguia, and others will be added to the schedule.
Tom Brown of TGB Promotions was delighted that this deal was made and looks forward to featuring his events on DAZN.
“I want to thank everyone who was involved in making this deal happen,” Brown said. “DAZN demand the absolute best product on their platform, and that’s what we’re here for. With this deal, DAZN is really kicking it up a notch. This relationship with PBC will be something special.”
In the press conference it was revealed that four fighters will be putting their world titles on the line within the next sixty days. The fighters are WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora, interim WBC middleweight champion Jesus Ramos Jr., WBA featherweight champion Brandon Figueroa, and IBF bantamweight champion Jose Salas Reyes. Three of the four champions will defend their titles against their mandatory challengers.
Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KOs) is slated to face Ermal Hadribeaj (23-0-1, 8 KOs) and make his fourth defense of the WBC title. “The Towering Inferno” has three consecutive stoppage wins including his win over Keith Thurman in March. He is excited to be fighting on DAZN as he feels that now it is possible to make the best fights in the division.
“PBC was the last missing piece on DAZN, now all of these big fights are realistic,” Fundora said. “We’re all on the same platform, so now’s the time. Let’s get an undisputed champion.”
While Fundora has a bout in the near future against Hardibeaj, the main topic for him was who he would like to face in the super welterweight division. He wasted no time in providing his answer.
“There is a fighter calling me out right now and that’s Boots Ennis. He would be the first one for sure.”
Brandon Figueroa (27-2-1, 20 KOs) will fight former bantamweight world champion Tomoki Kameda (42-5, 23 KOs) in his first defense of the WBA featherweight title, which he won by knocking out Nick Ball in the 11th round in February. Figueroa was a former world champion in the super bantamweight division and both of his losses were to Stephen Fulton in 2021 and 2025. Kameda was the WBO bantamweight champion and had a shot at the IBF featherweight title last year but fell short against Angelo Leo. Figueroa looks to build on the momentum from his knockout win over Ball and defend his title, but he also wants to unify a division that has not had a unified champion in over 15 years.
“I’m a different caliber of fighter,” Figueroa said. “I come to fight. I showed my grit to win this title. I’m very confident, and I’m ready to unify the belts.”
“I love to fight. I feel like there are few fighters that have that mentality. I go out there and I do my best, and I leave no stone unturned.”
One fight that was suggested by Britton Hardin who is the head of boxing at DAZN was Figueroa against WBC featherweight champion Bruce Carrington. While Figueroa is focused on his upcoming bout against Kameda, he is aware of a potential
“I know the Bruce Carrington unification fight will eventually come, but I have been training for this bout against Kameda,” he said. “When the time comes, I’ll be ready for it.”
Interim WBC middleweight champion Jesus Ramos Jr. (24-1, 19 KOs) has been waiting to get back in the ring since his win over Shane Mosley Jr. in December, and now he has that opportunity as he will face Meiirim Nursultanov (20-0, 11 KOs) who is the top contender in the WBC rankings. Ramos rose up the rankings in the super welterweight division before he suffered his lone loss to Erickson Lubin in September of 2023. Last year, he stopped Jeison Rosario and Guido Schramm before his win over Mosley and now the 25 year old looks to make a statement in the middleweight division.
“I’m excited to get back in the ring as a champion,” Ramos said. “It brings a new wave of confidence as we have been improving a lot of things in the gym. I’m excited to show all of my skills in my next fight.”
Ramos was hoping to get a shot at Carlos Adames who is currently the WBC world champion but that will not be the case.
“If it was up to me, that fight with Adames would be next. I really want that fight, and I hope that we can make it happen.”
Jose Salas Reyes (17-0, 11 KOs) won the vacant IBF bantamweight title in December with a stoppage of Landile Ngxeke and looks to defend the title against mandatory challenger Michael Angeletti (15-0, 8 KOs). There is speculation as to what could be in the future for Reyes if he does defeat Angeletti as newly crowned WBA champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez might be a future opponent. Given his status a the IBF champion, Reyes is happy that these fights are possible.
“I’m very excited to be in this position, especially with Bam Rodriguez moving up to this division. We have the mandatory fight first, but eventually the Bam Rodriguez fight will be coming and I will be ready.”
