Fighting in Photos: Lamont Roach Jr. Media Workout Highlights
At the No Xcuse Boxing Gym in Marlow Heights, WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. held a workout in front of media members ahead of his bout on March 1st against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. Roach is in the last few days of training before this bout that will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Roach worked on the heavy bag and displayed power and speed in his session at his gym. He also answered questions from the media before and after the workout.
“I feel great and I can’t wait. Moving up to 135 pounds makes everything super comfortable,” Roach said. “There’s no stress on the weight cut and I won’t feel drained at all.”
In a previous conversation with Lamont Roach Jr. in his gym, it was mentioned that he started his pro career in the lightweight division. Another thing that was brought up is the history between Roach and Tank Davis as they fought in the amateurs years ago.
“Gervonta has definitely become a world class fighter since our amateur days. We were both good as kids, but we’ve both evolved a lot. I’m going to prove that I’ve evolved more.”
On March 1st we will see Roach step in the ring to show his skill against Davis and he says that he is not like any of the previous opponents that Tank has faced.
“The IQ and the skillset that I have, compared to everyone else that he’s fought, it’s just levels above. The tenacity that I’m gonna combine with it, is definitely something he’s not used to. I’m bringing the total package.”
