Skye Nicolson signs with Most Valuable Promotions, will fight Yoshida on MVPW-06

After defeating Mahfoud, Nicolson successfully defended the WBC featherweight title twice before losing by decision to Tiara Brown last March. She has won four consecutive fights since then including a win over Yuliahn Avila to be the interim WBC super bantamweight champion, and in May she was elevated to world champion. On August 29th, Nicolson will defend that title against Japan’s two-division champion Miyo Yoshida (19-5, 1 KOs). It will be on the card of MVPW-06 in Birmingham, England airing live on Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN+ in the US.

“My goal has always been to test myself against the very best and be involved in the biggest fights in women’s boxing. I truly believe this move puts me in the best possible position to do exactly that. I’m excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait for this next chapter of my career to unfold.”

Yoshida is a former IBF bantamweight world champion and two-time WBO junior bantamweight world champion from Kagoshima, Japan. She was Ring Magazine’s Most Inspirational Female Fighter in 2023, and has relocated to the United States. She trains out of Gleason’s Gym in New York City and recently defeated Edith de Jesus Flores in April.
