Keyshawn Davis predicts a stoppage of Albright on May 16th
Former lightweight champion and Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis will be fighting in his hometown once again on May 16th in a rematch against Nahir Albright and he can’t wait to step in the ring in front of a familiar atmosphere.
“Fighting in my hometown is more comfortable,” Keyshawn said. “I don’t understand why people say it’s harder for them to fight in their hometown. I don’t understand it. I’ve traveled the world and fought in different countries where the crowd was against me, and I still went out there and won. I feel like my best performances come from fighting in my hometown.”
It will be the second time that Davis (14-0, 10 KOs) will fight at the arena as he stopped Gustavo Lemos back in 2024. He will have his brothers – Keon and Kelvin – fighting on the card just like the last time in Scope Arena, and that makes Keyshawn very happy.
“It’s something that people never really seen before in the sport of boxing,” he said. “Three brothers fighting on the same card. We’ve been fighting at home, took it to the gym, fought in the gym, and now we fighting on the world stage. I love it.”
As Keyshawn completes training in Las Vegas for his rematch against Albright, he wants to ride the momentum from his debut at super welterweight where he stopped Jamaine Ortiz in January. After being a world champion at lightweight and now a contender at super lightweight, Keyshawn wants to show that he has the ability to be a two division champion.
“I’m starting to understand the game. I’m starting to understand myself and the blessing and abilities that I have and that God gave me. I know what I need to do. I know what I need to do to get prepared. I’m a better Keyshawn now.”
Nahir Albright is coming off of a draw against Frank Martin in February, and last year he scored a win against Kelvin Davis. He warned Keyshawn that he should be ready on May 16th. However, Keyshawn shrugged off the warning and is going for a stoppage.
“That’s what everybody says. They’re supposed to promote themselves. I don’t want an opponent who’s going to go in there and just lay down. In every fight I have, they should be coming confident, ready and prepared.”
“When I go in there super focused and in shape, I know nobody can hang with me. This is an opportunity to stop guys that have never been stopped before. Albright’s going to be the fourth guy I stop in a row. ”
