Golden Boy, DAZN sign multi-year partnership extension
Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN announced a multi-year extension between the two parties on social media today, as DAZN aims to provide the most boxing content around the world. This announcement comes days after DAZN was able to secure a media rights deal with Top Rank.
DAZN, who broadcasts live and on-demand sport in over 200 countries and territories, has been the home for Golden Boy events since 2018. Both parties did have a period where they were negotiating the extension, but had a provisional deal in place until this agreement was made.
“We’re delighted to extend our partnership with Golden Boy,” said Pete Oliver, CEO Global Sports, DAZN. “Oscar and the team consistently deliver world-class events and develop some of the most exciting talent in boxing.”
Golden Boy Promotions is one of the well known promotional companies in boxing that was established in 2002. Founded by Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins, the company has been responsible for putting on big boxing events over the years. Now under the direction of De La Hoya and President Eric Gomez they hope that this new deal with DAZN can bring about more events to boxing fans worldwide.
Currently Golden Boy features a roster that includes world champions such as Ryan Garcia, Gilberto Ramirez, Gabriela Fundora, Oscar Collazo, and Ricardo Sandoval. They also feature contenders like Arnold Barboza Jr., William Zepeda, Floyd Schofield, Oscar Duarte, Raul Curiel, and Scrappy Ramirez. Their list of young prospects include Joshua Edwards, Jordan Fuentes, Sam Castellanos, Asa Stevens and Federico Pacheco Jr. Over 40 fighters are with Golden Boy, and the deal with DAZN would give a number of these fighters an opportunity to showcase their abilities.
“We’re firing on all cylinders right now,” Oscar De La Hoya said. “No one builds champions like we do. It’s a special formula mixed with a fighter’s talent, discipline and star power. As we approach a decade with DAZN, we’re going to keep setting the tone for the sport in 2026 and shaping the future of boxing.”
De La Hoya was excited about announcing the news, giving fans a teaser last week on social media before it became official. Golden Boy did have two events on DAZN this year, which took place on January 16th and on March 14th. While full details of the agreement have not been specified, DAZN has stated that they secured distribution rights for the May 2nd fight in Las Vegas between David Benavidez and Gilberto Ramirez along with Amazon Prime. In the coming weeks, more information on this deal between Golden Boy and DAZN will be provided.
