Mienicki headlines Top Rank card June 21st in Newark

Middleweight contender Vito Mielnicki Jr. (20-1-1, 12 KOs) will have his next bout minutes away from his hometown of Rosalind New Jersey as he will headline a Top Rank card at the Prudential Center on June 21st against Kamil Gardzielik (19-0, 4 KOs). This bout will be for the WBO Global, USWBC, and USBA titles.

This card will also have Damian Knyba going up against Marcin Siwy in the co-feature and Lorenzo “Truck” Simpson will be fighting William Townsel.

“We are thrilled to bring Vito back to Prudential Center, a beautiful venue that has played such an instrumental role in his career,” said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum. “This is a loaded card full of talented fighters in competitive matchups, and I expect a passionate crowd on hand for a great night of fights.”

Mielnicki last fought at the Prudential Center in 2023 and this will be his fifth bout at the venue in his pro career. He has won 13 consecutive fights dating back to 2021 and is rising up the ranks in the middleweight division. On February 14th, he fought Connor Coyle at the Theater in Madison Square Garden that resulted in a majority draw.

“I’m excited to come back to Prudential Center. My family, friends, and supporters from home will be there. Every time we fight at Prudential Center, it’s electric,” Mielnicki said. “I’ve knocked out all four of my opponents there, and I’m looking to make 5 for 5. I have Polish roots, and it will be a big night for the Polish community to support Damian and myself.”

Knyba (15-0, 9 KOs) is coming off of a 3rd round TKO victory over Andrzej Wawrzyk in the same venue. This will be his third bout in seven months after injuries sidelined him for much of last year. Knyba will be facing another fellow countryman in Siwy (25-0-1, 12 KOs) who has been out of the boxing ring since 2022. He spent most of that time competing in mixed martial arts.

“I am thrilled to fight again in my second home, the Prudential Center,” Knyba said. “My opponent has tremendous experience and an unbeaten record. I will be at my best on June 21 to take his ‘0’.”

Mielnicki-Gardzielik, Knyba-Siwy and Simpson-Townsel are part of a fight card promoted by Top Rank, in association with Rising Star Promotions. The following bouts will also be on the card:
