WBC & WBO junior featherweight world champion Stephen Fulton will defend his titles against Naoya Inoue on Sunday, May 7th at Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan. The showdown pits two of the world’s top fighters, as both Fulton and Inoue are listed on The Boxing Source Pound For Pound Rankings.
Fulton comes into this bout with a record of 21-0 with eight of those wins by way of knockout. The Philadelphia native has defeated nine fighters with unbeaten records over the course of his career, including four consecutive wins that took place between 2019 and 2021. He won the WBO title over Angelo Leo in January of 2021, followed by winning the WBC title over Brandon Figueroa ten months later. Last June, Fulton defended the titles with a unanimous decision win over Daniel Roman to solidify his spot as the top fighter in the division. On May 7th he will have his first bout outside of the US against Inoue.

Inoue is the former undisputed bantamweight champion with a record of 24-0 with 21 wins by knockout. He holds two wins over Nonito Donaire and wins over Emmanuel Rodriguez and Juan Carlos Payano in the division before becoming the undisputed champion by defeating Paul Butler in December. The three division world champion now aims to become a unified champion at the super bantamweight division with a win over Fulton.
