Sor Rungvisai meets Kwanthai Sithmorseng in March

Former two-time WBC World Champion and Lineal Super-Flyweight World Champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (49-5-1, 42 KOs) will step in the ring to face Kwanthai Sithmorseng (50-7-1, 27 KOs) in Thailand. The bout is scheduled for March 13th at 9:30am local time, which is 9:30pm ET/ 6.30 pm PT on March 12th in the US. DAZN will be televising the event worldwide outside of Thailand.

Rungvisai has worked his way into getting a shot to become world champion again by becoming the mandatory challenger to the WBC super flyweight title. After losing the belt to Juan Francisco Estrada in 2019, he scored two wins last year including one over former flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng. Now that the WBC has ordered the winner of the unification fight between Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez to face Rungvisai by September of this year, Rungvisai is focused to get back in the ring.

“I cannot wait to fight against the winner of Chocolatito and Estrada later this year to show the world that I am the top fighter in Super Flyweight,” Rungvisai said. “I would like to thank WBC and Eddie Hearn for committing to make this happen next.”

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai takes on Kwanthai Sithmorseng with a shot at the WBC title on the line.

“I will show the world in this fight against Kwanthai Sithmorseng that I am more than ready to face either Chocolatito or Estrada for the third time. I know that Kwanthai is very experienced. He is a former World Champion and also the current Thailand’s champion in Super Flyweight. He cannot be taken lightly, but I will be impressive and I will win by KO.”

Sithmorseng is the current champion in Thailand and was a former WBA minimumweight champion. He fought current WBO super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka in 2013 at light flyweight and has been in a few other world title bouts. He is fully aware of how big this opportunity is for him and he wants to take advantage of it.

“Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is the best fighter in Thailand, and he has done a great job for putting Thailand on the global boxing map by knocking out the legendary Roman Gonzalez,” said Sithmorseng. “I have much respect for him, and I also realize that this is such a great opportunity for me to be back at the world stage.”

“This can be a life changing opportunity for me. If I beat Rungvisai in this fight, I can get a chance to fight against the top guys in the division in World Title fights. I will do whatever it takes to make that happen.”
